Dan The Fish Man

We battle on, virus or no virus!

Well, I'm afraid the Coronovirus is already having an effect on my regular weekly market programme. I have to tell you that the Crediton Farmers' Market has closed for the forseeable future -  particularly sad for me, as I made a lot of very good friends there. Do please have look at my altered market schedule on the Home Page.

I'd like to thank all of my regular customers for their unflagging support, and for their enthusiasm in buying and cooking the very best in Devon's fish and seafood. These are difficult times, but I'm sure we'll get through them. Let's hope I'll be back at Crediton soon. The Fish Fight Goes On!!

Happy New Year!

I enjoyed my Christmas break at home in my village, Clovelly. Here I am helping to unravel fishing nets in the harbour.

I'll be back on my barrow packed with Devon's finest fish and seafood on Tuesday 7th January. A Happy New Year to all!

Away on my Brittany holiday

I’m really looking forward to my holiday! We’re off to France again for 11 days, heading for Brittany this time.

France is a joy. I love wandering the cobbled streets of the old towns, and exploring the bustling markets, which are packed with fresh foods, locally grown or caught by the Brittany fishermen. I’m particularly looking forward to visiting the open air market at Vannes, where the streets are filled with colourful stalls. The seafood in Brittany is exceptional, and I’ll be dining out and tasting the local fruits of the sea and, I hope, coming home with some delicious new recipes to share with you.

So I’m afraid I won’t be at my regular markets for eleven days from Friday 12th July. But you can find me again on Appledore Quay on Wednesday the 24th July, my barrow filled with the very best in locally-sourced fish and seafood. I look forward to seeing you!

Come and enjoy the south west’s largest food and drink festival!

Flavour Fest returns to Plymouth city centre Piazza from Friday 31 May to Sunday 2 June.

This fantastic weekend event is in its 16th year. The Piazza will be spectacularly transformed. You can browse the stalls of over 100 traders, all showcasing the very best in regional produce. And there's live music to get you in the holiday mood, and a marquee bar where you can relax and wind down.

I'll be there cooking up a storm in my children's workshop. There's so much to do and see, it's an absolute must for all the family. I hope to see you all there!
